Una noche de

Ayax dibujó un hombrecito solamente con una línea.
La línea, traviesa, se escapó, se alargóy
se tendió en el papel.
¿Qué haría
el hombrecito con esa línea? ¿Le pasaría
por arriba? ¿Se enredaría con ella? Ayax y Beatriz
se dieron cuenta de que, gracias a él, tenían
el libro que siempre habían querido hacer: divertido
y serio a la vez. Tantas cosas había hecho el hombrecito
con LA LÍNEA que hasta recibióun premio. Sin embargo,
al poco tiempo, algunos decretaron que era sumamente peligroso
y le prohibieron andar por ahí de mano en mano. Por fortuna
ahora vuelve a moverse con total libertad; para él no
han pasado los años.
LA LÍNEA (THE LINE)
One night back in 1974 Ayax drew a little man using just one line. The ‘naughty’ line escaped, got longer and stretched across the page. Ayax and Beatriz realized that the little man could help them make the amusing and altogether serious book they have always cherished. Among the little man’s numerous achievements with The Line there is an award (Casa de las Américas, 1975). However, shortly afterwards, there came those who considered the book highly dangerous and forbade its circulation. Fortunately, the little man is back and free to go wherever he pleases as if no time had passed.
